From July 1 to December 31, 2025, Armenia is introducing a single experimental visa-exemption program.
To qualify for visa-free entry, a traveler must:
- Be a national of one of 117 designated countries, and
- Hold a valid residency permit issued by:
- USA
- EU or any Schengen member state
- UAE
- Bahrain
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Kuwait
- Oman
Allowed stay: up to 180 days within one year, without needing an Armenian visa.
This is one unified program — not a combination of visa-on-arrival or any other scheme.
1. Overview of the Temporary Visa-Free Regime
Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has introduced a time-limited visa-exemption to facilitate travel, business visits, and tourism for eligible travelers during July–December 2025.
Under this policy:
- Eligible visitors may enter without any Armenian visa,
- May stay up to 180 days within a 1-year period,
- Must meet both nationality and residency criteria.
The program replaces the need for a visa during this period for eligible individuals.
It is not a visa-on-arrival scheme and does not create second pathways.
There is only one mechanism: temporary exemption from the visa requirement.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for visa-free entry all conditions must be met:
A. You must be a national of one of the 117 countries
(Full list below)
B. You must hold a valid residency permit from one of the following:

- Facilitate business travelers and diaspora connections
- Align with broader mobility discussions (e.g., EU–Armenia visa liberalisation dialogue)
In 2023, Armenia recorded over 2.3 million tourists, up nearly 40% from 2022 (Tourism Committee), prompting short-term liberalisation measures.
7. After December 31, 2025
The program is strictly temporary.
Armenia has not announced any extension or replacement after December 31, 2025.
Travelers should check the MFA website before planning travel in 2026.
Conclusion
Armenia's temporary visa-free regime (July–Dec 2025) creates a straightforward, single-pathway system for eligible travelers:
- 117 eligible nationalities, AND
- Qualifying residency in the U.S., EU/Schengen, or GCC,
- Visa-free stay up to 180 days.
This is one unified program, not a visa-on-arrival expansion.
It is a time-limited exemption designed to support tourism and business mobility during 2025.
