Trademark Classification System in Armenia

  • Classification Requirement: When applying for a trademark in Armenia, the applicant is required to provide a list of the specific goods and/or services for which the trademark is intended to be used.

  • International Classification: Armenia follows an internationally recognized system of trademark classification known as the Nice International Classification System. This classification system includes a total of 45 classes, with 34 classes designated for goods and 11 for services. Each class may have different sub-classes for more specific categorization.

  • Nice Agreement: Armenia has been a party to the Nice Agreement concerning the international classification of goods and services for the purposes of trademark registration since March 6, 2005. The Nice Agreement is an international treaty that establishes a standardized classification system for trademarks, making it easier for applicants to specify the goods and services associated with their marks.

  • Access to Classification: The current version of the Nice International Classification System, available in English, can be accessed on the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) website at www.wipo.org. This resource helps applicants and trademark professionals accurately classify their goods and services when applying for trademark registration in Armenia.
