Breaking Down the Requirements: What EAEU Citizens Need to Know About Obtaining a Certificate of Legality of Stay based on Employment in Armenia

Armenia, a constituent of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), extends an array of advantages to citizens from EAEU nations aspiring to secure a residence permit. This permit grants the privilege of a prolonged stay in Armenia, enabling them to enjoy the country's vibrant culture, economic opportunities, and high quality of life. In this article, we will explore the requirements, benefits, and step-by-step process of obtaining a certificate of legality of stay in Armenia for EAEU citizens engaged in employment in an Armenian company.

Understanding the EAEU and its impact on residency in Armenia

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an economic union comprised of five member states, including Armenia. Its primary aim is to promote economic integration and cooperation among its member countries. The EAEU has simplified the process of obtaining a certificate of legality of stay for its citizens, making it easier to establish a long-term presence in Armenia.

Step-by-step process of obtaining a certificate of legality of stay based on employment in Armenia

The process of obtaining a residence permit in Armenia as an EAEU citizen can be broken down into several steps. Firstly, citizens of these countries are exempted from the work permit requirement, thus, they can directly apply for a certificate of legality of stay through the website www.workpermit.am.

For the application, the citizens should submit the following documents;
•  Social Security Number
•  Passport Copy
•  Employment Agreement
•  Residence Address in Armenia
•  Passport-Sized Photograph (3.5cm x 4.5cm)

The process takes around 2 months to complete, and if approved, you can receive the card at the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia. Please note that the certificate is issued only for 1 year.

Furthermore, EAEU citizens already registered on the work permit portal can simultaneously submit applications for their family members (spouse, parents, children) to obtain certificates of legality of stay in Armenia.

Renewing and extending a certificate of legality of stay in Armenia for EAEU citizens

Once you have obtained a certificate of legality of stay in Armenia, it is important to be aware of the renewal and extension process. Typically, this document is valid for a one-year interval and may be renewed annually provided that the employment is still active. For renewal, the applicant should submit a new employment agreement alongside any document that has been modified since the first application. It is important to note that application for extension is permissible no sooner than 30 calendar days before the expiration of the card's validity period.
