Georgia Ranked 51st in Henley Passport Index
Georgian passport is ranked 51st place in Henley Passport Index, a ranking of all the world’s passports based on the number of states the passport holder can visit with visa free regime.
The index ranked 199 different passports and included 227 destinations. The way the Index calculates is the following: if no visa is required for passport holders from a country to territory, a score with value = 1 is assigned to the passport. Also, if the passport holder can obtain visa on arrival, a visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) when entering the destination, a score with value = 1 is applied.
In cases when visa is required, or a citizen has to obtain a government- approved electronic visa (e-Visa) before departure, value = 0 score is applied. Equally, if a citizen needs pre-departure government approval for a visa on arrival, value = 0 score is applied.
Thus, the total score of the passport is the same as the number of destinations for which no visa is required.
Starting from March 28, 2017, Georgian biometric passport holders enjoy visa-free travel to the European Union for 90 days within any 180-day period for vacation, business, or any other purpose, except work.
